A message about RISE from our Chairman of the Board

We appreciate your visit to the RISE website and hope that you find information that will be valuable to you as a professor, K–12 educator, parent, or donor. Our mission to improve literacy and strengthen the preparation of pre-service teachers has never been more important.

Reading remains the most critical academic skill and a key factor in unlocking opportunity across a person’s lifetime. Yet, only about one-third of U.S. fourth graders demonstrate reading proficiency, and millions of Americans continue to face challenges with functional literacy. Research continues to show that many students struggle due to dyslexia or insufficient explicit instruction, while many pre-service teachers report limited preparation in evidence-based reading practices.

RISE Institute for Literacy is committed to advancing solutions that matter. We support teacher preparation programs, provide structured literacy intervention for children and adults, and equip parents with knowledge and tools to advocate for effective instruction.

Thank you for visiting our website. We hope you will return often and join us in advancing literacy for all."
