Laura Axtell

Laura earned Masters degrees in Special Education and Counseling. She has worked with juvenile offenders, struggling readers, special education students, and English language learners for over 35 years. Laura served as a state coordinator for the America Reads program and on a governor's task force for literacy. She tutors children and adults through a statewide literacy initiative. As a former special education teacher and school administrator, Laura has provided reading instruction and intervention to K-12 students in the U.S., and English literacy support to students and professional development to teachers internationally. Ms. Axtell also served as one of the initial tutors for the RISE Institute for Literacy and continues to tutor multiple students remotely. Laura works currently an education specialist and trainer for Reading Horizons and a host of the educational podcast, Podclassed.
