Shantell Blake, M.A., RISE board member

Shantell Blake, EdD, is the Vice President of Education at Reading Horizons, where her work over the past 20 years has focused on teacher training, content development, and school consultation, with an emphasis on effective implementation. She has trained thousands of educators nationwide on the science of reading and dyslexia. Shantell holds an M.A. in Education with a Reading Science concentration and dyslexia certification, advanced Orton-Gillingham training, and is LETRS and CERI certified. She earned her Doctorate of Education from Mount St. Joseph University, where her research focused on teacher feedback, implementation science, explicit instruction, and increasing student engagement and academic outcomes. Passionate about literacy, she is dedicated to ensuring effective reading instruction for all students, especially those with dyslexia.

In this role, she supports the design and delivery of professional learning, training, and certification programs that build internal capacity and support effective implementation of Reading Horizons products and methodology. She collaborates cross-functionally with product, marketing, and leadership teams to translate the science of reading into practical, high-impact solutions for educators, sales teams, and stakeholders. Her work includes developing strategic content and messaging, supporting pre-sales efforts, and presenting at conferences and high-stakes events to expand organizational reach and influence. She also serves as a key liaison between the field and product teams—gathering insights, informing product development, and ensuring alignment with research and the Reading Horizons instructional method. Through ongoing engagement with schools, universities, and literacy organizations, she helps strengthen partnerships, drive innovation, and ensure solutions remain grounded in evidence-based practice.
