Our Team

Angie

I am Angie Smith and I live in Kaysville, Utah.  I am a wife and the mother of 5 children. I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. In my travels, I have experienced many different places and cultures around the world.  I had the opportunity to visit India and Thailand and attend the Reading Horizons method training that was part of Reading Horizon’s humanitarian effort. I have been a volunteer tutor for 8 years, teaching children and adults utilizing the Reading Horizons method. I love to help my students understand how our English language works and see the confidence and self-esteem they develop as their ability to read improves.

Michelle

I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University, and have worked and served in a variety of positions in the Education field. I have been an Elementary classroom teacher (Grades 1, 2, and 6), an Elementary literacy instructional coach, a school administrator, a Special Education LEA and 504 Coordinator at multiple schools, the Parent Organization President and Board Member of a charter school, and a Homeschool mom. I am married and have 4 children, with my youngest currently in High School, and we live in Layton, Utah. I am passionate about the cause of literacy for all, and a big proponent of the research and Science of Reading, as well as understanding and supporting children with differing abilities. I am excited to work with students, parents, and community members in advancing these causes through the Rise Institute.
